SAN FRANCISCO — The opener did not go as the Giants had hoped and exactly how the A’s had hoped. An 0-3 Daniel Mengden took an 8-4 Jeff Samardzija. The game was out of reach almost immediately as the Oakland A’s jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
With that game in the books, tonight the Giants will look to even the series as Albert Suárez will take the mound against Kendall Graveman. Graveman is 3-6 on the year and Suárez 3-1.
The Giants have been red hot heading in to this series but the A’s in the past few series have seemed to have ownage on their cross Bay nemesis.
Brandon Crawford will be back in the lineup tonight to help try and give the Giants the boost on offense that they lacked in last night’s matchup. Though the game was out of reach for the most part early on, the Giants did not go down without a fight in scoring three late inning runs. They will try and carry that late inning momentum in to tonight’s game in this 4-game series.
The game will be broadcast on CSN Bay Area and CSN California. Betting odds are -139 to the Giants and the O/U is 8.
