2017 49ers – The extremely early depth chart and 53-man roster projection

SANTA CLARA — The 49ers by accord of many of the draft pundits and national talking heads for the NFL graded the draft out very high for the 2017 team. The draft started out with a big trade between the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers of which the Bears gave up quite a bit just to move up one spot and draft Mitchell Trubisky. The Niners ultimately got the guy they would have drafted anyway in Solomon Thomas with the third overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Both players will be called on early as the rebuilding process is in full swing for the team. Pending Reuben Foster’s health, both will most likely start on the defensive side of the ball. These two should be huge building blocks in rejuvenating what just a few years removed was a dominant force.

Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch have overhauled a large portion of the rosters from the previous past few losing seasons. There are some familiar faces of course but the new head coach and general manager really seem to have a sense of direction in what they are trying to build and accomplish.

Below, I will break down both sides of the ball and include special teams in trying to take my best stab at predicting the depth chart for the year as well as the 53-man roster…
