2014 NFL Mock Draft (April)

Draft

With just a couple weeks left until the 2014 NFL Draft, we take a look at The Hometown Fans latest and last mock draft of the year. We did not post 500 mock drafts like some of the other sites have done to this point, but sometimes less is more. There are some significant changes since our last mock draft but some of them stayed in tact. And there will obviously be trades in the first round, but for all intensive purposes, we won’t predict them in this version. If a player gets drafted in that slot or by that team, I’ll consider taking the credit...

INDIANAPOLIS – At the trade deadline, the Pacers made a bold move in dealing popular veteran and former face of the franchise in Danny Granger. Granger got moved to the 76ers in exchange for Evan Turner in an effort to add some bench scoring to the Pacers’ lineup. Immediately after the trade happened, it upset Pacer players and fans alike. Granger had been there for years, helping shape youngsters Paul George, Roy Hibbert, and Lance Stephenson into the players they are today. For these young players, it was not easy to see their mentor being let...

DENVER – Madison Bumgarner is doing everything he can.  Yesterday he pitched eight innings, struck out six, gave up just two runs, lowered his ERA to 3.14…and lost.  He tried to help his own cause by hitting a double to left in the seventh, but nobody was on base and no Giants hitter could knock him home.  The only Giants run came on a solo home run by Hunter Pence and the Colorado Rockies won, 2-1, at Coors Field. After a 10-5 start, the Giants have gone 1-5 and the subject of using Giants pitchers as pinch hitters has been broached. ...

NEW YORK – After being down 2-0 just eight minutes into Game 2 of their opening round series against the Rangers, it looked like the Flyers might have been left for dead. Jake Voracek had other ideas. Immediately after the second goal go the game, you could see the young winger signal to his teammates that everyone needed to remain calm. Voracek and the Flyers responded quickly, with the Czech flying past Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh and across Henrik Lundqvist to finish with his backhand. All the sudden, the Flyers were back in business. The...

Draft Thoughts and Analysis: St. Louis Rams

Draft Thoughts and Analysis: St. Louis Rams

Draft

ST. LOUIS – The NFL Draft still looks exciting for the Rams. We have to really consider our choice(s), especially with two solid picks (#2 and #13) in the first round and 12 picks overall. We need a OL, WR and safety positions filled. I’m reading and hearing various things just as everyone else is. We want all three of these spots filled, however, we can get quality in the later rounds with players that are not the “name” players. I’m still hearing OT’s Jake Matthews (Texas A&M) or Greg Robinson (Auburn) are supposed...

SAN FRANCISCO – Hyun-Jin Ryu shut out the San Francisco Giants for seven innings and the Los Angeles Dodgers tied the Giants for first place in the NL West with a 2-1 win at AT&T Park yesterday.  Ryu gave up only four singles and lowered his ERA to 1.93 while gaining his third win of the season. The Dodgers scored the winning run in the fifth inning when Adrian Gonzalez drove in Justin Turner from third with a single off Giants’ loser Madison Bumgarner (2-1).  Turner had doubled earlier in the inning and moved to third when Yasiel Puig...

SAN FRANCISCO – With two outs in the bottom of the 12th inning, Hector Sanchez smacked a liner through the right side of the infield at AT&T Park and drove in the winning run as the San Francisco Giants beat the Los Angeles Dodgers on Jackie Robinson Day, 3-2. The single was Sanchez’s fourth career game winning hit that drove in Brandon Crawford and capped off the Giants’ second extra-inning walk-off win in a row.  The Giants were able to capitalize on a mistake by the Dodgers and advanced on a passed ball which advanced Crawford from...

NBA

Well, the playoffs are almost here. The good news is that the Golden State Warriors are in, and are locked into the sixth seed. Tomorrow’s season finale against the Denver Nuggets in the Mile High City is really just a tune-up for some; and a chance to rest for some others. As of now, the Warriors will face the Los Angeles Clippers, which should definitely be looked forward to as a highly entertaining series to watch. The two Pacific Division foes do not like each other. So far this year, there have been technical fouls called, player ejections, and...

NBA

With the NBA Regular Season coming to an end, a hand full of teams have the opportunity to make a playoff push in an effort to win it all. For the not-as-fortunate ones, all we have to look forward to now is the draft. This year’s draft means a lot more to some teams than others, especially the Sixers, who have effectively pushed the reset button in an effort to start from the ground up in rebuilding. With this year’s draft being the most hyped in years (possibly overhyped as some have put it) the end of the regular season standings have a huge...

Hello everyone, welcome to another edition of St. Louis RamNation brought to you by THF. I’m pretty excited because I just heard about a contest and contests always excite me. I don’t usually perform well, but it’s not about performance, it’s the research and guesswork that goes along with it that causes euphoric excitement. Anyway… back to our contest. The Rams are doing a contest and EVERYONE is invited at the chance to win $100,000. This is going to be interesting… How many of you (us) have all major sports fantasy...
